Company hopes to prompt others into action

Carl Keddy, President and owner of Keddco Mfg. Ltd., hopes his company's donation of $25,000 to Bluewater Health Foundation?s fund-raising campaign will prompt other medium-sized Sarnia-Lambton companies to do likewise.

The money will be used in the new hospital.

"If we are to retain our high quality workforce as well as attract new people to Sarnia, it is imperative that we have first class medical facilities for families," said Mr. Keddy.

Keddco Mfg. Ltd. was established in 1973 to manufacture and supply piping components to the oil and petro chemical industry. In addition to its Sarnia plant, Keddco has a second location in Edmonton, AB, to serve its clients in Western Canada.

David Vigar, President/CEO, Bluewater Health, and Liz Kenny, Executive Director, Bluewater Health Foundation, went over the drawings for the new hospital with Mr. Keddy.

"Thank-you for stepping up to the plate. We certainly appreciate your support," David said.

The State of the Heart Campaign is a fund-raising campaign to offset costs of building a new hospital. The community has raised $35 million to support the building costs as well as purchasing furniture and equipment. The campaign is currently in Phase 4, to help raise $5 million to fund additional new equipment for the hospital.

Building the hospital is but one part of the program. It must also be equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic, medical equipment in order to provide comfort, safety and overall quality care to our patients. Our aim is to build the finest community hospital in Ontario. The equipment campaign will see us raise funds to purchase equipment to treat the residents of Lambton County. The goal of this Phase will be determined after an inventory is completed within the two Sarnia sites.

If we are to retain our high quality workforce as well as attract new people to Sarnia,
it is imperative that we have first class medical facilities for families.

Carl Keddy - Founder
Profile: Keddco Manufacturing 32 Years of Piping Products

As President and owner of Keddco Manufacturing Ltd. since its startup in 1973, Carl Keddy has guided the privately owned company through significant growth as a Canadian manufacturer of quality piping products for the refining and chemical industry. Keddco, with about 30 employees, operates out of its 18,000 sq. ft. major manufacturing and warehousing head office location in Sarnia, ON and its 10,000 sq. ft. Western Canada sales and distribution centre in Edmonton, AB.

Keddco products, which are marketed primarily through major piping distributors across Canada, include swage nipples, bull plugs, spectacle blinds, and bleed rings, strainers, oil country fittings, pump seating nipples, oilfield tubing and casing couplings, pup joints and other piping components. The machinists and specialized operators at Keddco have an average of 10 years experience and the company’s quality program is supported by planned inspections throughout the production process. Keddco is ISO-9001-2000 registered.

“Our sales representatives call on the end users, the engineering departments of refineries and chemical plants, to ensure that our products are on their approved lists,” says Keddy. “We have all the quality control measures in place here to meet their requirements on an ongoing basis.”

As required by customers, Keddco will fabricate customized fittings and other piping components for specific project use to complement its regular catalogue lineup. Although the company’s primary market is across Canada, it also ships product to the US, Europe and Asia.

As competition grows in the marketplace and major customers look for national suppliers, Keddy says Keddco will continue to build on its longstanding reputation for quality and 24/7 responsiveness to customer service requirements. “We’re committed to carrying significant inventory levels at both of our locations to make sure that product is always available when it’s needed.”
