| The rolled thread is a superior thread to the cut thread. When cold-forming the material into a thread form there is a tremendous amount of stress placed on the material and it becomes work hardened giving it improved physical properties over the parent metal. As a result of this process the residual compressive stresses, together with increased surface hardness, aid in improving thread form fatigue strength. The hardness of the thread is the key to why it is a superior thread. |
